1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of this House were saddened to learn
3 of the death of Police Officer John C. Knight of Chicago on
4 January 9, 1999; and
5 WHEREAS, Police Officer Knight was fatally shot in the
6 line of duty; he was a veteran of nine years on the
7 department; he was the son of a police officer; and
8 WHEREAS, He was awarded two Department Commendations,
9 seventeen Honorable Mentions, and one Complimentary Letter;
10 and
11 WHEREAS, The passing of Police Officer John C. Knight
12 will be deeply felt by his family and friends, especially his
13 wife Joan and his children, Matthew, Brian, and Lauren;
14 therefore, be it
15 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
16 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
17 we note with sorrow and regret the death of Police Officer
18 John C. Knight, whose commitment to his family and community
19 has been an inspiration to all who were privileged to know
20 him, and that we convey our heartfelt sympathy to his family
21 and friends; and be it further
22 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
23 presented to the family of Police Officer John C. Knight.
