1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestones in the
4 lives of citizens of the State; and
5 WHEREAS, The Wilmette Chamber of Commerce has selected
6 it's Annual Award winners in the categories of Citizen of the
7 Year and Business of the Year; and
8 WHEREAS, John Jacoby has been selected 1999 Citizen of
9 the Year; he has lived in Wilmette since 1974 with his wife,
10 Muggsy, and their four children; and
11 WHEREAS, John Jacoby served on the Park Board Advisory
12 Council from 1977 to 1979; as Park Board Commissioner from
13 1979 to 1981; as Village Trustee from 1981 to 1989, serving
14 two terms; as Village President from 1989 to 1997, serving
15 two terms; and as Director of the Wilmette Historical Society
16 from 1998 to the present; and
17 WHEREAS, He was Founder and President of the Wilmette
18 Men's Tennis Association from 1976 to 1980; from 1986 to 1992
19 he was a Manager of a Little League baseball team; Mr. Jacoby
20 is interested in public policy issues and enjoys working with
21 others that share this interest; therefore, be it
22 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
23 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
24 we congratulate John Jacoby on being named Citizen of the
25 Year by the Wilmette Chamber of Commerce; and be it further
26 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
27 presented to John Jacoby.
