1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of this House are pleased and
3 honored to recognize significant achievements in the lives of
4 individuals of this great State; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Tyran Bascomb
6 has been selected the Youth of the Year for 1999 by the Don
7 Moyer Boys & Girls Club; and
8 WHEREAS, Tyran Bascomb is seventeen years old and attends
9 Central High School in Champaign; he resides with his
10 grandparents, Everett and Josephine Bernard; and
11 WHEREAS, He has been a member of the club for nine years;
12 he was selected for this honor based on his accomplishments
13 in relation to six areas of achievement: home and family,
14 spiritual values, community, school, service to the club, and
15 life goals; and
16 WHEREAS, As the eldest of five children, he has played an
17 important role in helping to raise his younger siblings; he
18 is a regular participant in church activities and has taken
19 leadership roles in an Urban League youth group; and
20 WHEREAS, He has been involved in a neighborhood watch
21 group and tries to be a positive influence on the younger
22 members at the Boys & Girls Club; and
23 WHEREAS, He is indeed deserving of our recognition;
24 therefore, be it
25 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
27 we congratulate Tyran Bascomb on being selected the Youth of
28 the Year for 1999 and applaud his actions and way of life;
29 and be it further
30 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
