91_HR0258 LRB9106742CBcb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of this House are pleased and 3 honored to recognize individuals who have dedicated their 4 lives to their community and the State of Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, Lee W. Eckert has announced his retirement as 6 Millstadt Village Trustee after having spent forty years in 7 office; and 8 WHEREAS, He was born in Millstadt on June 30, 1923, the 9 son of George and Annie Eckert; he attended Daken School in 10 rural Millstadt; and 11 WHEREAS, He married the former Lucille Reinhardt on July 12 16, 1949; they are the loving parents of Trudy Famula, Lana 13 Zipfel, Kelly O'Donnell, and Toby Eckert and the proud 14 grandparents of Corey Famula, Jeni Sanchez, Chad Zipfel, 15 Nicholas O'Donnell, and Paige O'Donnell; and 16 WHEREAS, He owned Lee Eckert Painting and Decorating for 17 thirty-five years; he is a member of the Veterans of Foreign 18 Wars, the American Legion, the Commercial Club, Millstadt 19 Sister Cities, and St. James Catholic Church; and 20 WHEREAS, He was elected as trustee under Mayor Elmer 21 Gutberz in 1959; he went on to serve ten consecutive terms; 22 he chaired committees such as Streets and Water & Sewer; he 23 is proud of the improvements to sidewalks along Jefferson and 24 Washington Streets and the demolition of the watershed 25 located behind the Village Hall on White Street with 26 construction of the new watershed in the same location; for 27 the past six years he chaired the Public Works Committee; and 28 WHEREAS, Lee Eckert exemplified the highest standards of 29 the profession he served so long and well; his wise counsel 30 and advice were a great and good influence on all who have 31 had the privilege of knowing him; therefore be it -2- LRB9106742CBcb 1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 2 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 3 we congratulate Lee Eckert as he retires as Millstadt Village 4 Trustee and applaud his years of dedicated service; and be it 5 further 6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 7 presented to Lee W. Eckert as a token of our esteem.
