1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Star Detective & Security Agency, Inc., has
3 been awarded the Power of Minority Business Excellence Award
4 by Illinova and the Illinois State Chamber of Commerce; and
5 WHEREAS, This award is given based on the winner's
6 business excellence, community involvement, and participation
7 in minority economic development efforts in Illinois; and
8 WHEREAS, Almeda E. Dunn is the President and CEO of Star
9 Detective & Security Agency, Inc.; a former police officer,
10 she is affiliated with the State of Illinois Department of
11 Professional Regulation, where she is a Vice-Chairman of the
12 Private Detective Board; she is Vice-Chairman of the
13 Department of Employment Security Illinois Employer Council
14 and is a Director of the National Black Police Association;
15 and she is a Director of the National Council of
16 Investigation Services, Inc. and a member of the Illinois
17 Association of Detectives and the Illinois Security Chiefs;
18 and
19 WHEREAS, She was recently named as one of the "Top 100"
20 by Minority Business News, USA, and recognized by Ebony
21 Magazine; and
22 WHEREAS, She has opened the doors of her business to
23 minority workers, hiring them, and bringing in high quality
24 teachers and trainers to improve the skills of her staff; she
25 is the founder of the West 76th Street Area Coalition, a
26 neighborhood organization which has as its purpose the
27 improvement and stability of the area in which her home is
28 located; and
29 WHEREAS, She is indeed worthy of our highest praise;
30 therefore, be it
31 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
2 we congratulate Star Detective & Security Agency, Inc. and
3 Almeda E. Dunn on winning the Power of Minority Business
4 Excellence Award and we applaud her work with the minorities
5 and those less fortunate; and be it further
6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to Almeda E. Dunn as an expression of our esteem.
