1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor milestones within the
4 State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, On April 16, 1998, Heriberto M. Galindo was
6 appointed Consul General of Mexico in Chicago; and
7 WHEREAS, Consul Galindo has been working very hard in his
8 new position; he has modernized the Consul General office,
9 making it more efficient in the daily services it provides;
10 the office serves over 700 people each day, from those
11 inquiring about business opportunities in Mexico to those
12 asking about visa information; if there is a question about
13 cultural exchanges, legal information, or anything to do with
14 Mexico, the office can now help out even better then before
15 thanks to the efforts of Consul Galindo; and
16 WHEREAS, Consul Galindo has initiated programs that
17 protect the civil rights of Mexican citizens who reside in
18 the United States; in addition, he has implemented programs
19 for those same citizens to help their loved ones back in
20 Mexico; and
21 WHEREAS, Consul Galindo has been instrumental for
22 creating dialogue between the various Mexican political
23 parties that are present in Illinois; he has also supported
24 the opportunity for a Mexican citizen living in the United
25 States to participate in the democratic process in Mexico;
26 and
27 WHEREAS, Through the Mexican Institute of Culture and
28 Education in Chicago, Consul Galindo has helped others to see
29 the richness and culture of Mexico brought to the United
30 States; therefore, be it
31 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
2 we congratulate Heriberto M. Galindo on being appointed
3 Consul General of Mexico in Chicago; and we also congratulate
4 Consul Galindo on his good work to make the office run more
5 efficiently for the people who utilize it on a daily basis;
6 and be it further
7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to Consul Galindo, along with our sincere regards.
