91_HR0195 LRB9106417CBcb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, Those individuals who minister to the spiritual 3 needs of others are worthy of the highest respect and 4 admiration; and 5 WHEREAS, Born in Israel, Rabbi Reuven Frankel moved with 6 his family to the United States in 1939; he spent nearly 7 three decades in the Cantorate, holding several positions, 8 including Shaarey Zedek in Southfield, Michigan; Temple 9 Israel in Albany, New York; North Suburban Synagogue Beth El 10 in Highland Park, Illinois; and for the past twenty years as 11 the Rabbi of Congregation B'nai Tikvah in Deerfield, 12 Illinois; and 13 WHEREAS, Rabbi Frankel was ordained as a rabbi in 1977 14 and became B'nai Tikvah's first full-time rabbi in 1978; and 15 WHEREAS, Rabbi Frankel has developed an educated laity, 16 who, under his guidance, have developed skills that enable 17 them to participate in and lead weekday, Shabbat, and 18 Festival services; and 19 WHEREAS, Rabbi Frankel's musical programs have added much 20 to the services; the Annual Jewish Music Festival has 21 delighted audiences of all ages; and 22 WHEREAS, Rabbi Frankel has been a member of the Cantors 23 Assembly, has served as the President of the Midwest Region 24 of the Assembly, is a member of the Midwest Region of the 25 Rabbinic Assembly, is a member of the Executive Board of the 26 Chicago Rabbinical Assembly, and serves as President of the 27 Southeast Lake County Clergy Association; and 28 WHEREAS, He is supported throughout his public and 29 private life by his wife, Dr. Penina Frankel; three sons, 30 Hillel, Aaron, and Noam; and two grandsons; and -2- LRB9106417CBcb 1 WHEREAS, His retirement will be celebrated June 6, 1999; 2 therefore, be it 3 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 4 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 5 we congratulate Rabbi Reuven Frankel on his retirement and 6 wish him the best of luck in the future; and be it further 7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 8 presented to him as an expression of our esteem.
