91_HR0181 LRB9106455CBcb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of this Body are happy to recognize 3 organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the 4 well-being of the citizens of this State; and 5 WHEREAS, This year, The Art of Transition will be held on 6 Saturday, April 24, 1999, at The Lodge in Oak Brook with 7 comedian and talk-show host Aaron Freeman as the celebrity 8 auctioneer; and 9 WHEREAS, This year, Sarah's Inn is delighted to 10 collaborate with The Oak Park Art League which will 11 coordinate the silent auction art show; and 12 WHEREAS, The mission of Sarah's Inn is to help women and 13 children in their time of crisis and help them onto the path 14 towards self-sufficiency and to simultaneously address the 15 systematic issues within our society which perpetuate 16 violence against women; and 17 WHEREAS, Last year the event raised $90,000 for the 18 support of domestic violence services for women and children; 19 and 20 WHEREAS, The event is an important part of fundraising 21 activities; the hope is that the countless successful 22 transitions made by survivors of domestic violence can be 23 celebrated as they create new lives free from abuse; 24 therefore, be it 25 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 26 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 27 we applaud the work of Sarah's Inn and recognize the good 28 works and movement in the domestic violence area; and be it 29 further 30 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be -2- LRB9106455CBcb 1 presented to President Christine DuSell.
