91_HR0173 LRB9106398KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives wish to extend their sincere sympathies to 4 the family and friends of Ralph Martin, who recently passed 5 away; and 6 WHEREAS, Ralph Martin was born in Buffalo, New York, on 7 March 3, 1930; he met his wife at a YWCA/YMCA Convention and 8 they soon moved to Des Plaines; and 9 WHEREAS, Ralph Martin went to work for his father-in-law 10 at William L. Kunkel & Co., and soon became president of the 11 company; through his hard work a new division was added that 12 sold homes and commercial property; and 13 WHEREAS, Ralph Martin served as Des Plaines alderman from 14 1963 to 1967; he was past president of the Illinois and 15 Northwest Suburban Board of Realtors; he was a member of the 16 National Association of Realtors' board of directors; he was 17 a charter member of the Des Plaines Economic Development 18 Commission; he headed the Des Plaines Historical Society; he 19 also worked with the Chamber of Commerce, the Lions Club, and 20 the Lattoff YMCA; and 21 WHEREAS, Ralph Martin is survived by his wife, Frances; 22 his son and his daughter-in-law, Stewart and Maris; his son, 23 Glen; his daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Robert Mahnke; 24 his daughter, Elizabeth; his brother and sister-in-law, 25 William and Marcia Martin; his sister-in-law, Julie; his 26 grandchildren, Miles, Taryn, Brystel, and Emily; therefore, 27 be it 28 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 29 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 30 we mourn, along with his family and friends, the death of 31 Ralph Martin; may they find comfort in this time of need; and -2- LRB9106398KBkb 1 be it further 2 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 3 presented to the family of Ralph Martin.
