91_HR0131 LRB9106264KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are proud to recognize significant milestones 4 in the lives of its citizens; and 5 WHEREAS, Marvin Perzee of Ashkum, Illinois, has been 6 selected by Prairie Farmer magazine as one its four Master 7 Farmers for 1999; and 8 WHEREAS, Marvin Perzee helped raise his three younger 9 brothers and took over the farming operations at an early 10 age; he built a 1,300 acre grain farm from his first 160 11 acres; and 12 WHEREAS, Marvin Perzee has served as president of the 13 Iroquois County Fair Association since 1971; this position 14 has led him to hold the position of director of the Illinois 15 Association of County Fairs; together with his wife Sharon, 16 who serves as the Iroquois County Fair's publicity chairman, 17 Marvin has actively labored at the State Capitol on behalf of 18 the county fairs in Illinois; and 19 WHEREAS, Marvin Perzee has been honored as a local, 20 State, and national champion of 4-H; he has served as a 4-H 21 leader for 35 years, and served on the Iroquois County Fair 22 Board since he was 22; and 23 WHEREAS, Marvin Perzee has served as Iroquois County 24 Republican Chairman for 14 years, and has served on the 25 agricultural advisory board of U.S. Congressman Tom Ewing 26 since 1991; and 27 WHEREAS, Marvin Perzee has been instrumental in seeing 28 legislation passed that removed the sales tax from the 29 purchase of farm machinery sales; he and his wife have both 30 actively lobbied in Springfield for the rights of farmers; 31 and -2- LRB9106264KBkb 1 WHEREAS, In 1998, Marvin and Sharon and their family were 2 named the Daily Journal Farm Family of the Year; therefore, 3 be it 4 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 5 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 6 we congratulate Marvin Perzee on being the recipient of the 7 1999 Master Farmer award from Prairie Farmer magazine; and be 8 it further 9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 10 presented to Marvin Perzee.
