91_HR0108 LRB9105868CBcb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of this Body were saddened to learn 3 of the death of Reverend W. E. Harris of Chicago on January 4 4, 1999; and 5 WHEREAS, He was born on February 15, 1911, the son of the 6 late Jake Harris and Lillian Shinholster; he received his 7 education in the Twiggs County Public Schools; and 8 WHEREAS, He joined the Spring Hill C.M.E. Church at the 9 age of 8 years and was a faithful member until his death; he 10 was assistant pastor of Spring Hill C.M.E. Church; and 11 WHEREAS, He was also a member of Shiloh Lodge #83, a 12 member of several missions and the father of Spring Hill 13 Mission, and a member of the Fort Valley Conference; and 14 WHEREAS, He was united in holy matrimony to Leathan Hall 15 on September 14, 1930, a union which lasted for 68 years; and 16 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family 17 and friends, especially his wife, Leathan; his children, 18 Willie Odessia Barber, Willie James Harris, Homer Harris, 19 Laverne Hillman, Charlie Harris, Frank Harris, Ethel Pearl 20 Rodgers, Minnie Lillian James, James Lee Harris, and Mary Ann 21 Harris; his sisters and brothers, Rusie Bell Burney, Mary 22 Bell Burney, Minnie Shinholster, Lemon Harris, Bennie Harris, 23 and Addie Hollingsworth; 52 grandchildren; 25 24 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren; 25 therefore, be it 26 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 27 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 28 we note with sorrow and regret the death of Reverend W. E. 29 Harris and extend our sincere condolences to his family and 30 friends; and be it further -2- LRB9105868CBcb 1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution shall 2 be presented to his widow, Leathan Harris.
