1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to acknowledge significant milestones in
4 the lives of its citizens; and
5 WHEREAS, The oldest Black church in the City of Urbana,
6 Illinois is celebrating its 88th anniversary; and
7 WHEREAS, The Morningstar Freewill Baptist Church was
8 founded and organized February 22, 1911; and
9 WHEREAS, The congregation of the Morningstar Freewill
10 Baptist Church currently holds their services at 1402 West
11 Eads Street in Urbana, Illinois; the pastor is Reverend
12 Jimmie O. Holmes Sr.; and
13 WHEREAS, The celebration will include a dinner,
14 fellowship, and a special service to commemorate the
15 anniversary; therefore, be it
16 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
17 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
18 we congratulate the Morningstar Freewill Baptist Church in
19 Urbana, Illinois on their 88th anniversary; may they continue
20 to serve God, and the people of their community for years to
21 come; and be it further
22 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
23 presented to Pastor Jimmie Holmes.
