1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of this Body were saddened to learn
3 of the death of Mrs. Evelyn Mann Pettigrew of Chicago on
4 Wednesday, January 13, 1999; and
5 WHEREAS, She was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on March
6 29, 1932; she is a graduate of Alabama A&M College where she
7 pledged the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority; and
8 WHEREAS, She was a Chicago Public School teacher for over
9 30 years, spending the majority of that time at Douglas
10 Elementary School; and
11 WHEREAS, She was a member of such organizations as the
12 Joint Negro Appeal, Beatrice Caffrey, Provident Hospital, and
13 World Vision; and
14 WHEREAS, Her passing will be deeply felt by her family
15 and friends, especially her husband, Carl; her son, Carl
16 Newton; her daughter-in-law, Karyn; her grandchildren,
17 Cameron and Nicholas; and her dear friend, Bernice Jones;
18 therefore, be it
19 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
20 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
21 we note with sorrow and regret the death of Mrs. Evelyn Mann
22 Pettigrew and extend our sincere condolences to her family
23 and friends; and be it further
24 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
25 presented to her husband, Carl Pettigrew.
