91_HR0005 LRB9101259CBcbA 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, It is with great pride and a little sadness that 3 we say goodbye to Michael Jordan; and 4 WHEREAS, Michael Jordan brought a civic pride to the City 5 of Chicago by winning 6 World Championships with the Chicago 6 Bulls; and 7 WHEREAS, He led the United States to gold medals in the 8 1984 and 1996 Olympic Games and was named the National 9 Basketball Association League's Most Valuable Player 5 times; 10 and 11 WHEREAS, He proved that he also possesses dramatic acting 12 skills with his performance in the Hollywood blockbuster 13 "Space Jam"; and 14 WHEREAS, Michael Jordan was proud to be considered a role 15 model for children and made a concerted effort to set a 16 positive example for those who looked up to him; and 17 WHEREAS, His superstar status led to him becoming the 18 most widely recognized celebrity in the world; and 19 WHEREAS, Michael Jordan demonstrated tremendous courage 20 by having some of his greatest performances during illness 21 and injury; and 22 WHEREAS, We wish him all the best as he spends time with 23 his family and in the pursuit of the game of golf; therefore, 24 be it 25 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 26 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 27 we applaud Michael Jordan as he retires from basketball and 28 that we wish him the best of luck in the future; and be it 29 further -2- LRB9101259CBcbA 1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 2 presented to him as an expression of our esteem and 3 admiration.
