1 HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the House were saddened to learn
3 of the death last year of Mayor Kenneth P. Hayes of Bradley;
4 and
5 WHEREAS, He was elected mayor in 1981 and was re-elected
6 in 1985, 1989, 1993, and 1997; and
7 WHEREAS, Under Mayor Hayes' strong leadership, the
8 Village of Bradley experienced unprecedented commercial and
9 retail growth, amounting to large increases in sales tax
10 revenue to Bradley; and
11 WHEREAS, Much of the commercial growth and development
12 that Mayor Hayes worked for occurred along Illinois Route 50;
13 therefore, be it
14 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
15 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
16 SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that the portion of Illinois Route
17 50 from North Street to Larry Power Road in Bradley is
18 designated the Kenneth P. Hayes Memorial Highway; and be it
19 further
20 RESOLVED, That the Department of Transportation is
21 directed to erect appropriate signage along this route in
22 recognition of this designation; and be it further
23 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
24 presented to Mayor Hayes' widow, Mrs. Rose Hayes, to the
25 Village of Bradley, and to the Secretary of Transportation.
