91_HJ0014eng HJ0014 Engrossed LRB9106153KSmb 1 HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 14 2 WHEREAS, The State of Illinois has seen tremendous 3 population growth in many parts of the State; and 4 WHEREAS, A result of this growth has been increased 5 traffic congestion; and 6 WHEREAS, The timing, synchronization, and proper 7 operation of traffic lights directly effects the traffic 8 congestion problems in these areas; and 9 WHEREAS, Traffic congestion and drive times can be 10 significantly reduced if proper traffic light operation is 11 achieved; therefore, be it 12 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 13 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE 14 SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that the Department of 15 Transportation is directed to continue its efforts toward 16 implementing traffic signal improvements on the highways 17 under its jurisdiction and to report on these efforts within 18 the high traffic areas of the State in two years; and be it 19 further 20 RESOLVED, That the Department of Transportation is 21 directed to report to the General Assembly by January 1, 2002 22 with a summary of its accomplishments; and be it further 23 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 24 presented to the Secretary of Transportation.
