1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Exotic Weed Act by changing
2 Section 3.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Illinois Exotic Weed Act is amended by
6 changing Section 3 as follows:
7 (525 ILCS 10/3) (from Ch. 5, par. 933)
8 Sec. 3. Designated Exotic Weeds. Japanese honeysuckle
9 (Lonicera japonica), multiflora rose (Rosa multiflora), and
10 purple loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria), and variegated
11 loosestrife (Lythrum virgatum) are hereby designated exotic
12 weeds. Upon petition the Director of Natural Resources, by
13 rule, shall exempt varieties of any species listed in this
14 Act that can be demonstrated by published or current research
15 not to be an exotic weed as defined in Section 2.

17 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
18 becoming law.
