1 AN ACT creating the Internet Voting Commission.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
5 Internet Voting Commission Act.
6 Section 5. Commission created. The Internet Voting
7 Commission is created, consisting of 8 members of the General
8 Assembly and 8 public members. The President and Minority
9 Leader of the Senate and the Speaker and Minority Leader of
10 the House of Representatives shall each appoint 2 legislative
11 members and 2 public members.
12 The Internet Voting Commission shall study and implement
13 a system of voting via the Internet at elections in 2002 and
14 thereafter. The Commission shall designate a chairman from
15 among its number, shall meet as frequently as necessary at
16 the call of the chair, and shall report its findings to the
17 General Assembly as expeditiously as possible.
18 Commission members shall receive no compensation but
19 shall be reimbursed for expenses incurred in the performance
20 of their duties from funds appropriated for that purpose.
21 The Commission is abolished January 1, 2003.
22 Section 10. Repeal. This Act is repealed January 1,
23 2003.
24 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
25 becoming law.
