1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Dangerous Animals Act by
2 changing Section 0.1.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Illinois Dangerous Animals Act is amended
6 by changing Section 0.1 as follows:
7 (720 ILCS 585/0.1) (from Ch. 8, par. 240)
8 Sec. 0.1. As used in this Act, unless the context
9 otherwise requires:
10 "Dangerous animal" means a nonhuman primate, lion, tiger,
11 leopard, ocelot, jaguar, cheetah, margay, mountain lion,
12 lynx, bobcat, jaguarundi, bear, hyena, wolf, or coyote,
13 coyote-dog hybrid, or any poisonous or life-threatening
14 reptile, or any animal that is actually infested with an
15 infectious disease that is dangerous or life threatening to
16 humans.
17 "Owner" means any person who (a) has a right of property
18 in a dangerous animal, (b) keeps or harbors a dangerous
19 animal, (c) has a dangerous animal in his care, or (d) acts
20 as custodian of a dangerous animal.
21 "Person" means any individual, firm, association,
22 partnership, corporation, or other legal entity, any public
23 or private institution, the State of Illinois, or any
24 municipal corporation or political subdivision of the State.

26 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
27 becoming law.
