1 AN ACT to amend the Property Tax Code by adding Section
2 9-192.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Property Tax Code is amended by adding
6 Section 9-192 as follows:
7 (35 ILCS 200/9-192 new)
8 Sec. 9-192. Assessment of abandoned residential
9 property. For assessment years 2001 and thereafter, the
10 assessed valuation of residential property that has been
11 abandoned for one year or more shall be no less than the
12 average assessed valuation of occupied comparable residential
13 property within the same census tract as the abandoned
14 property.
15 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
16 becoming law.
