91_HB3951enr HB3951 Enrolled LRB9111635ACmg 1 AN ACT to amend the Highway Advertising Control Act of 2 1971. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The Highway Advertising Control Act of 1971 6 is amended by changing Section 6.01 as follows: 7 (225 ILCS 440/6.01) (from Ch. 121, par. 506.01) 8 Sec. 6.01. Size of signs. No sign may be erected which 9 exceeds 1,200 square feet in area, 30 feet in height and 60 10 feet in length, including border and trim, but excluding 11 ornamental base or apron, supports and other structural 12 members. Except with respect to the repair, rebuilding, or 13 replacement of any sign lawfully erected before January 1, 14 1993, no sign may be erected after the effective date of this 15 amendatory Act of 1992 in any county with a population under 16 2,000,000 that exceeds 800 square feet in area, excluding 17 extensions and cut-outs; the extensions and cut-outs may 18 account for no more than an additional 20% in sign surface 19 area. The maximum size limitation shall apply to each side of 20 a sign or sign structure. A maximum of 2 signs may be erected 21 in a facing, in which event the facing shall be deemed to be 22 one sign, the size of which may not exceed the dimensions 23 listed in this Section. Signs may be double faced or be 24 placed back to back or V-type or triangular, provided that 25 the angle between sign faces shall not exceed 90 degrees. The 26 area shall be measured by the smallest square, rectangle, 27 triangle, circle or combination thereof which will encompass 28 the entire sign. 29 (Source: P.A. 87-1205.)
