1 AN ACT to amend the School Code by adding Section
2 2-3.131.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
6 2-3.131 as follows:
7 (105 ILCS 5/2-3.131 new)
8 Sec. 2-3.131. Grants for the education of foster
9 children. The State Board of Education shall award grants to
10 school districts to offset the expenses associated with
11 educating foster children, including without limitation costs
12 associated with employing social workers and school nurses to
13 deal with these children's emotional concerns, case study
14 evaluations, and special placement. The State Board of
15 Education may adopt any rules necessary to implement and
16 administer this Section.
17 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect on
18 July 1, 2000.
