1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Municipal Code by adding
2 Section 7-3-6.2.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by
6 adding Section 7-3-6.2 as follows:
7 (65 ILCS 5/7-3-6.2 new)
8 Sec. 7-3-6.2. Split lots. Notwithstanding any other
9 provision of this Code, the owner or owners of record of a
10 split residential lot may disconnect a portion of the lot so
11 that a single municipality or county governs the entire lot.
12 The owner or owners seeking to disconnect a portion of a
13 split lot from a municipality must petition the court in the
14 manner provided in Section 7-3-6 of this Code.
15 For the purposes of this Section, "split lot" means a
16 single residential lot that is located in and governed by 2
17 municipalities or that is governed by a municipality and a
18 county.
