1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Cooperative Work Study
2 Program Act by changing Section 2.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Illinois Cooperative Work Study Program
6 Act is amended by changing Section 2 as follows.

8 Sec. 2. Definitions. In this Act:
9 "Board" means the Illinois Board of Higher Education.
10 "Nonpublic institution of higher education" means an
11 educational organization, other than a public institution of
12 higher education, that provides a minimum of an organized 2
13 year program at the private junior college level or higher
14 and that operates in conformity with standards substantially
15 equivalent to those of the public institutions of higher
16 education.
17 "Public institution of higher education" means the
18 University of Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago
19 State University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors
20 State University, Illinois State University, Northeastern
21 Illinois University, Northern Illinois University, Western
22 Illinois University, the public community colleges of this
23 State, and any other public universities, colleges and
24 community colleges now or hereafter established or authorized
25 by the Illinois General Assembly.
26 "Cooperative work study" means an academically related
27 work and study experience with business, industry, government
28 or other agencies and organizations. Cooperative work study
29 may include, but is not limited to, summer internships,
30 clinical placements, internships and work experiences during
31 the academic year.
