91_HB3315eng HB3315 Engrossed LRB9112033NTtm 1 AN ACT to amend the School Code by adding Section 2 2-3.131. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section 6 2-3.131 as follows: 7 (105 ILCS 5/2-3.131 new) 8 Sec. 2-3.131. After school program grants. 9 (a) Subject to appropriation, the State Board of 10 Education shall provide after school program grants to 40 11 public schools geographically distributed throughout the 12 State, as chosen by the State Board of Education on a 13 non-competitive basis and based on a lack of student 14 achievement at the school, for the purpose of assisting 15 individual students who fail to meet State academic 16 standards, as determined under Section 2-3.64 of this Code, 17 and their families at the school at the end of the regular 18 day of instruction or on non-school days. These grants shall 19 be provided for the 2000-2001 school year and each school 20 year thereafter until the 2004-2005 school year. The amount 21 of each grant shall be based on pupil enrollment. 22 (b) The State Board of Education shall report to the 23 General Assembly by July 1, 2003 on whether to continue and 24 expand the provision of after school program grants. 25 (c) The State Board of Education may adopt any rules 26 necessary to carry out its responsibilities under this 27 Section. 28 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 29 becoming law.
