1 AN ACT to amend the Local Governmental and Governmental
2 Employees Tort Immunity Act by adding Section 4-108.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Local Governmental and Governmental
6 Employees Tort Immunity Act is amended by adding Section
7 4-108 as follows:
8 (745 ILCS 10/4-108 new)
9 Sec. 4-108. Trigger locks. In any local public entity
10 whose employees have been issued trigger locks or similar
11 devices to secure weapons and whose employees have been
12 trained in weapon storage, the action of any such employee in
13 storing weapons away from any premises owned by the local
14 public entity does not constitute an action taken within the
15 scope of that employee's employment nor is the local public
16 entity liable for any injury resulting from that storage.
17 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
18 becoming law.
