1 AN ACT to amend the School Code by adding Section 29-3.6.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
5 29-3.6 as follows:
6 (105 ILCS 5/29-3.6 new)
7 Sec. 29-3.6. Transportation to or from location other
8 than home. The school board of a school district that
9 provides transportation for pupils to and from the school
10 attended shall provide transportation, without cost, for any
11 pupil of that district to or from a location other than the
12 pupil's home, as designated by the pupil's parents or
13 guardian, if (i) the district claims or will claim
14 reimbursement from the State for transporting the pupil and
15 (ii) the location is at least 1 1/2 miles from the school
16 attended and is on or along the regular route of any of the
17 district's school buses or conveyances.
18 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect on
19 July 1, 2000.
