1 AN ACT to amend the School Code by changing Section
2 29-6.1.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing
6 Section 29-6.1 as follows:
7 (105 ILCS 5/29-6.1) (from Ch. 122, par. 29-6.1)
8 Sec. 29-6.1. Contracts for transportation. Subject to
9 Section 6-106.11 of the Illinois Vehicle Code, school boards
10 may enter into contracts for up to 3 years for transportation
11 of pupils to and from school. Such contract contracts may be
12 extended 2 times for a period of up to 2 additional years
13 each time by mutual agreement of the parties, and thereafter
14 may be extended on a year-to-year basis by mutual agreement
15 of the parties., However, no such contract may be extended
16 beyond a total period of 8 years on a year-to-year basis if
17 the a school board receives a timely request from another
18 interested contractor that a contract be let by bid.
