91_HB2660 LRB9100417NTsb 1 AN ACT to amend the School Code by changing Section 2 14-1.09.1. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing 6 Section 14-1.09.1 as follows: 7 (105 ILCS 5/14-1.09.1) 8 Sec. 14-1.09.1. School psychological services. In the 9 public schools, school psychological services provided by 10 qualified specialists who hold Type 73 School Service 11 Personnel Certificates endorsed for school psychology issued 12 by the State Teacher Certification Board may include, but are 13 not limited to: (i) administration and interpretation of 14 psychological and educational evaluations; (ii) developing 15 school-based prevention programs, including violence 16 prevention programs; (iii) counseling with students, parents, 17 and teachers on educational and mental health issues; (iv) 18 acting as liaisons between public schools and community 19 agencies; (v) evaluating program effectiveness; (vi) 20 providing crisis intervention within the school setting; 21 (vii) helping teachers, parents, and others involved in the 22 educational process to provide optimum teaching and learning 23 conditions for all students; (viii) supervising school 24 psychologist interns enrolled in school psychology programs 25 that meet the standards established by the State Board of 26 Education; and (ix) screening of school enrollments to 27 identify children who should be referred for individual 28 study. Nothing in this Section prohibits other qualified 29 professionals, including licensed clinical psychologists, 30 from providing those services listed for which they are 31 appropriately trained. -2- LRB9100417NTsb 1 (Source: P.A. 89-339, eff. 8-17-95.) 2 Section 99.
