91_HB2589eng HB2589 Engrossed LRB9105343SMdv 1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Public Aid Code by changing 2 Section 9A-1. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by 6 changing Section 9A-1 as follows: 7 (305 ILCS 5/9A-1) (from Ch. 23, par. 9A-1) 8 Sec. 9A-1. Declaration of Purpose. It is the purpose of 9 this Article to provide recipients of public aid under 10 Article IV the education, training and employment programs 11 that will help them avoid long-term welfare dependence. In 12 accordance with this purpose the Department shall adopt goals 13 and implement strategies to move public aid recipients under 14 Article IV into long-term employment in jobs paying wages 15 that place them above the federal poverty line. 16 (Source: P.A. 86-1184; 86-1381.)
