91_HB2299 LRB9103435SMcb 1 AN ACT to amend the Veterans' Employment Representative 2 Act by changing Section 1. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The Veterans' Employment Representative Act 6 is amended by changing Section 1 as follows: 7 (330 ILCS 50/1) (from Ch. 48, par. 186a) 8 Sec. 1. Veteran services; representative. Each full 9 service office of the Job Service shall assign at least one 10 full time Veterans' Employment Representative, defined by 11 title and classification under the Personnel Code of 12 Illinois, to work exclusively in job counseling, training, 13 and placement of veterans. Preference for these positions 14 shall be given to qualified persons who have been members of 15 the armed forces of the United States in times of hostilities 16 with a foreign country. Any candidate for these positions 17 shall be deemed to have met and satisfied examination 18 admission requirements if the candidate served in the armed 19 forces during times of hostilities with a foreign country and 20 was honorably discharged therefrom due to a combat-related 21 disability. The holder of one of these positionssuch a22positionshall be administratively responsible to the local 23 office manager, and his or her first line responsibility is 24 functional supervision of all local office services to 25 veterans. He or she may also be delegated line supervision 26 of veteran units, assistant local veterans' employment 27 representative, or veteran aid. Individualized veterans' 28 services such as application taking, counseling, job 29 referral, or training will continue to be provided to 30 veterans on a priority basis by all local office staff. 31 (Source: P.A. 90-372, eff. 7-1-98.)
