1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Public Aid Code by adding
2 Section 5-4.3.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by
6 adding Section 5-4.3 as follows:
7 (305 ILCS 5/5-4.3 new)
8 Sec. 5-4.3. Unearned income exemption. In determining
9 eligibility for medical assistance under this Code the
10 Department shall consider as exempt each month all unearned
11 income which is less than or equal to the current monthly
12 amount of a Supplemental Security Income grant as established
13 by the federal government, including but not limited to,
14 Social Security Disability Insurance benefits and other
15 disability benefits.
