1 AN ACT to amend the Criminal Code of 1961 by adding
2 Section 31-9.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 (720 ILCS 5/31-9 new)
6 Sec. 31-9. Concealed compartment in vehicle, watercraft,
7 or aircraft.
8 (a) It shall be unlawful for any person, business,
9 partnership, or corporation to knowingly create, modify,
10 alter, or add any false or foreign compartment to a motor
11 vehicle, watercraft, or aircraft for the purpose of
12 concealment of the compartment from peace officers or law
13 enforcement personnel. A violation of this subsection is a
14 Class 4 felony.
15 (b) It shall be unlawful for any person to knowingly
16 possess any motor vehicle, watercraft, or aircraft containing
17 any false or foreign compartment created for the purpose of
18 concealment of the compartment from peace officers or law
19 enforcement personnel. A violation of this subsection is a
20 Class 4 felony.
21 (c) It shall be unlawful for any person to knowingly
22 possess any motor vehicle, watercraft, or aircraft containing
23 any foreign compartment for the purpose of concealment of the
24 compartment from peace officers or law enforcement personnel
25 and utilize that compartment in the transportation of any
26 item or substance which the possessor of the motor vehicle,
27 watercraft, or aircraft is not allowed by law to own or
28 possess. A violation of this subsection is a Class 1 felony.
29
