1 AN ACT to amend the School Code by changing Section
2 21-2b.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing
6 Section 21-2b as follows:
7 (105 ILCS 5/21-2b) (from Ch. 122, par. 21-2b)
8 Sec. 21-2b. Teacher education program entrance
9 procedures. In consultation with the State Teacher
10 Certification Board the State Board of Education shall
11 develop procedures which ensure that all students entering
12 approved teacher education programs are proficient in the
13 areas of reading, mathematics and language arts. Each
14 institution of higher learning shall submit to the State
15 Teacher Certification Board a plan which sets forth
16 procedures for implementation of this Section.
