91_HB1699 LRB9103491NTsb 1 AN ACT to amend the School Code by changing Section 2 21-11.3. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing 6 Section 21-11.3 as follows: 7 (105 ILCS 5/21-11.3) (from Ch. 122, par. 21-11.3) 8 Sec. 21-11.3. Resident teacher certificate. A resident 9 teacher certificate shall be valid for 2 years for employment 10 as a resident teacher in a public school. It shall be issued 11 only to persons who have graduated from a recognized 12 institution of higher education with a bachelor's degree, who 13 are enrolled in a program of preparation approved by the 14 State Superintendent of Education in consultation with the 15 State Teacher Certification Board, and who have passed the 16 appropriate tests as required in Section 21-1a of this Code 17 and as determined by the State Board of Education. A 18 resident teacher certificate may be issued for teaching 19 children through grade 3 or for grades K-9, 6-12, or K-12 in 20 a special subject area and may not be renewed. A resident 21 teacher may teach only in conjunction with and under the 22 direction of a certified teacher and shall not teach in place 23 of a certified teacher. 24 (Source: P.A. 90-548, eff. 1-1-98.)
