1 AN ACT to amend the School Code by changing Section
2 34-18.8.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing
6 Section 34-18.8 as follows:
7 (105 ILCS 5/34-18.8) (from Ch. 122, par. 34-18.8)
8 Sec. 34-18.8. AIDS training. School guidance
9 counselors, nurses, teachers and other school personnel who
10 work with pupils may be trained to have a basic knowledge of
11 matters relating to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome
12 (AIDS), including the nature of the disease, its causes and
13 effects, the means of detecting it and preventing its
14 transmission, the availability of appropriate sources of
15 counseling and referral, and any other information that may
16 be appropriate considering the age and grade level of such
17 pupils. The Board of Education shall supervise the such
18 training. The State Board of Education and the Department of
19 Public Health shall jointly develop standards for the such
20 training.
