1 AN ACT to amend the Public Utilities Act by adding
2 Section 13-709.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by adding
6 Section 13-709 as follows:
7 (220 ILCS 5/13-709 new)
8 (Section scheduled to be repealed on July 1, 2001)
9 Sec. 13-709. Unlisted customer telephone numbers. A
10 telecommunications carrier may not charge a customer for
11 omitting the customer's telephone number from a telephone
12 directory published from information provided by the
13 telecommunications carrier or for causing the customer's
14 telephone number to be inaccessible through directory
15 assistance.
16 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect
17 January 1, 2000.
