91_HB1063eng HB1063 Engrossed LRB9102061KSgc 1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Vehicle Code by adding 2 Section 3-645. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by 6 adding Section 3-645 as follows: 7 (625 ILCS 5/3-645 new) 8 Sec. 3-645. Illinois Fraternal Order of Police License 9 Plates. 10 (a) In addition to any other special license plate, the 11 Secretary of State, upon receipt of all applicable fees and 12 applications made in the form prescribed by the Secretary of 13 State, may issue Illinois Fraternal Order of Police license 14 plates to residents of Illinois who meet eligibility 15 requirements prescribed by the Secretary of State. The 16 special Illinois Fraternal Order of Police license plate 17 issued under this Section shall be affixed only to passenger 18 vehicles of the first division and motor vehicles of the 19 second division weighing less than 8,000 pounds. Plates 20 issued under this Section shall expire according to the 21 procedures established in Section 3-414.1 of this Code. 22 (b) The design, color, and format of the license plates 23 shall be wholly within the discretion of the Secretary of 24 State. The Secretary may, in his or her discretion, allow 25 the license plates to be issued as vanity plates or 26 personalized in accordance with Section 3-405.1 of this Code. 27 The plates are not required to designate "Land of Lincoln", 28 as prescribed in subsection (b) of Section 3-412 of this 29 Code. The Secretary shall prescribe the eligibility 30 requirements and, in his or her discretion, shall approve and 31 prescribe stickers or decals as provided under Section 3-412. HB1063 Engrossed -2- LRB9102061KSgc 1 (c) An applicant shall be charged a $15 fee for original 2 issuance in addition to the applicable registration fee. 3 This additional fee shall be deposited into the Secretary of 4 State Special License Plate Fund. For each registration 5 renewal period, a $2 fee, in addition to the appropriate 6 registration fee, shall be charged and shall be deposited 7 into the Secretary of State Special License Plate Fund.
