91_HB1041 LRB9105147ACtm 1 AN ACT to amend the Hospital Licensing Act by changing 2 Section 11.2. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The Hospital Licensing Act is amended by 6 changing Section 11.2 as follows: 7 (210 ILCS 85/11.2) (from Ch. 111 1/2, par. 152.2) 8 Sec. 11.2. Designated blood donors. 9 (a) Each hospital licensed under this Act shall allow a 10 recipient of blood to designate a donor of his choice for the 11 purpose of receiving red blood cells, under the following 12 conditions: 13 (1) The recipient, or someone on his behalf, has 14 solicited the donors; 15 (2) The designated donor consents to such donation; 16 (3) The designated donor's blood may be obtained in 17 sufficient time to meet the health care needs of the 18 recipient; 19 (4) The designated donor is qualified to donate blood 20 under the criteria for donor selection promulgated by the 21 Department of Public Health under the Blood Labeling Act; and 22 (5) The blood of the donor is acceptable for the 23 patient's medical needs. 24 (b) Blood donated for such designated use shall be 25 reserved for the designated recipient; however, if it has not 26 been used within 7 days from the day of donation, it may be 27 used for any other medically appropriate purpose. 28 (c) This Section shall not limit other procedures 29 hospitals may establish to enable directed donations. 30 (Source: P.A. 86-719.)
