91_HB0736eng HB0736 Engrossed LRB9101223JSpc 1 AN ACT to amend the Automated Teller Machine Security Act 2 by adding Section 45. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The Automated Teller Machine Security Act is 6 amended by adding Section 45 as follows: 7 (205 ILCS 695/45 new) 8 Sec. 45. Reverse PIN study. 9 (a) The Office of Banks and Real Estate shall study the 10 feasibility of requiring the implementation of a reverse PIN 11 warning safety system for automated teller machines. The 12 Office of Banks and Real Estate shall report its findings 13 along with any legislative or other recommendations to the 14 General Assembly on or before December 31, 2000. 15 (b) As used in this Section, "reverse PIN warning safety 16 system" means a protocol whereby a bank computer would 17 recognize the entry of a customer's personal identification 18 number (PIN) in reverse order of the digits during a 19 transaction as a signal of an emergency and notify the police 20 jurisdiction closest to the automated teller machine from 21 which the signal emanated.
