91_HB0622eng HB0622 Engrossed LRB9102746PTmb 1 AN ACT concerning the Lieutenant Governor. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Illinois Commission on Community Service 5 Act is amended by changing Section 4 as follows: 6 (20 ILCS 710/4) (from Ch. 127, par. 3804) 7 Sec. 4. Operation. The Lieutenant Governor shall 8 appoint a Director of the Lieutenant Governor's Commission on 9 Community Service who shall serve at the Lieutenant 10 Governor's pleasure and who shall receive such compensation 11 as is determined by the Lieutenant Governor. The Director 12 shall employ such staff as is necessary to carry out the 13 purpose of this Act. The Commission, working in cooperation 14 with State agencies, individuals, local groups, and 15 organizations throughout the State, may undertake programs 16 and activities thatwhichfurther the purposes of this Act 17 including, but not limited to, the following: 18 (a) providing technical assistance to programs 19 which depend upon volunteers; 20 (b) initiating community service programs to meet 21 previously unmet needs in Illinois; 22 (c) promoting and coordinating efforts to expand 23 and improve the statewide community service network; 24 (d) recognizing outstanding community service 25 accomplishments; 26 (e) disseminating information to support community 27 service programs and to broaden community service 28 involvement throughout the State; 29 (f) implementing federally funded grant programs in 30 Illinois such as the National and Community Service Trust 31 Act.
