91_HB0541enr HB0541 Enrolled LRB9101604MWgc 1 AN ACT to amend the Township Code by changing Section 2 80-60. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing 6 Section 80-60 as follows: 7 (60 ILCS 1/80-60) 8 Sec. 80-60. Annual budget and appropriation ordinance. 9 The township board shall comply with the Illinois Municipal 10 Budget Law. The township board must, at least 30 days before 11 the public hearing required by Section 3 of the Illinois 12 Municipal Budget Law, prepare or cause to be prepared a 13 tentative budget and appropriation ordinance and file the 14 ordinance with the township clerk. The township clerk must 15 make the tentative budget and appropriation ordinance 16 available for public inspection for at least 30 days before 17 final action on the ordinance. The required public hearing 18 must be held on or before the last day of the first quarter 19 of the fiscal year before the township board. Notice of the 20 hearing must be given by publication in a newspaper published 21 in the township at least 30 days before the time of the 22 hearing. If there is no newspaper published in the township, 23 notice of the public hearing may be given by posting notices 24 in 5 of the most public places in the township. It is the 25 duty of the township clerk to arrange for the public hearing. 26 The township board at the public hearing may adopt all or 27 part of the tentative budget and appropriation ordinance, as 28 the township board deems necessary. 29 (Source: P.A. 88-62.)
