1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Violence Prevention Act of
2 1995 by changing Section 10.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Illinois Violence Prevention Act of 1995
6 is amended by changing Section 10 as follows:
7 (20 ILCS 4027/10)
8 Sec. 10. Illinois Violence Prevention Authority. There
9 is hereby created the Illinois Violence Prevention Authority
10 (hereafter "Authority") which shall be chaired jointly by the
11 Attorney General and the Director of Public Health and shall
12 also include: the Secretary of Human Services (or his or her
13 designee) plus 2 additional representatives of the Department
14 of Human Services designated by the Secretary; the director
15 or designee of the following departments of State government:
16 the Department of State Police, the Illinois Criminal Justice
17 Information Authority, the Department of Children and Family
18 Services, the Department on Aging, and the State Board of
19 Education, and the Department of Corrections; the chair or
20 designee of the Authority's Youth Advisory Board, who is
21 entitled to vote as a member of the Authority if 16 years of
22 age or older; and 10 8 public members representing health,
23 criminal justice, and civic associations or organizations
24 working in the area of violence prevention, 5 4 each
25 appointed by the Attorney General and the Director of Public
26 Health. Appointed members serve 3-year terms and may be
27 reappointed for an unlimited number of terms.
