91_HB0502enr HB0502 Enrolled LRB9102187ACdv 1 AN ACT to amend the Nursing and Advanced Practice Nursing 2 Act by adding Section 5-23. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The Nursing and Advanced Practice Nursing Act 6 is amended by adding Section 5-23 as follows: 7 (225 ILCS 65/5-23 new) 8 Sec. 5-23. Criminal background check. After the 9 effective date of this amendatory Act of the 91st General 10 Assembly, the Department shall require an applicant for 11 initial licensure under this Act to submit to a criminal 12 background check as part of the qualification for licensure. 13 If an applicant's criminal background check indicates 14 criminal conviction, the applicant must further submit to a 15 fingerprint-based criminal background check. The Department 16 shall adopt rules to implement this Section. 17 Section 99. Effective Date. This Act takes effect 18 January 1, 2000.
