91_HB0492enr HB0492 Enrolled LRB9102280SMpr 1 AN ACT to amend the Veterans Burial Places Act by 2 changing Section 1.1. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The Veterans Burial Places Act is amended by 6 changing Section 1.1 as follows: 7 (330 ILCS 110/1.1) (from Ch. 21, par. 59a1) 8 Sec. 1.1. When a headstone or memorial marker is 9 provided for a United States War Veteran by the United States 10 Government pursuant to Section 2306 of Title 38 of the United 11 States Code, the Department of Veterans' Affairs shall pay an 12 amount not to exceed $100 to the next of kin,orcemetery 13 official, monument company official, or veterans group 14 responsible for the cost of transporting and erecting the 15 headstone or memorial. However, no such payment shall be made 16 unless a signed application is presented to the Department by 17 the next of kin,orcemetery official, monument company 18 official, or veterans group, along with such other proof of 19 transportation or erection charges as the Department may 20 require. All such applications for payment shall be on forms 21 provided by the Department. 22 (Source: P.A. 90-752, eff. 8-14-98.) 23 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 24 becoming law.
