1 AN ACT to amend the Airport Authorities Act by adding
2 Section 2.8.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Airport Authorities Act is amended by
6 adding Section 2.8 as follows:
7 (70 ILCS 5/2.8 new)
8 Sec. 2.8. Authority coterminous with municipality.
9 (a) In this Section, "coterminous airport authority"
10 means an airport authority whose territory is coterminous
11 with the territory of a municipality (a "coterminous
12 municipality") on the date the airport authority is
13 established.
14 (b) If the corporate limits of a coterminous
15 municipality have changed after the date the coterminous
16 airport authority was established and before the effective
17 date of this amendatory Act of the 91st General Assembly and
18 if the coterminous airport authority's territory is not
19 coterminous with the coterminous municipality's territory on
20 the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 91st General
21 Assembly, then on the effective date of this amendatory Act
22 of the 91st General Assembly the boundaries of the
23 coterminous airport authority's territory are changed by
24 operation of law so that the coterminous airport authority's
25 territory is coterminous with the coterminous municipality's
26 territory. If the corporate limits of a coterminous
27 municipality are changed on or after the effective date of
28 this amendatory Act of the 91st General Assembly, then the
29 boundaries of the coterminous airport authority's territory
30 shall be changed by operation of law on the effective date of
31 the change in the coterminous municipality's corporate limits

1 so that the coterminous airport authority's territory is
2 coterminous with the coterminous municipality's territory.
3 (c) It is not necessary that the electors or the airport
4 authority's board of commissioners approve changes in the
5 boundaries of an airport authority's territory made by
6 operation of law under this Section.
