PEN CD-ST EMPL-PURCHASE CREDIT                                             

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the State Employee Article of the Pension Code.  Allows  a      
   member  to  establish service credit for certain periods of employment      
   prior to becoming a member without paying interest, if application and      
   payment  in  full  are  made  before  January  1,   2000.    Effective      
   immediately.                                                                
          PENSION IMPACT NOTE                                                  
          The fiscal impact of SB1299 cannot be determined, as it depends      
          on the number of employees who elect to purchase the service         
          credit.
