House Sponsors: NOLAND Short description: MUNI CD-VILLAGE PRES-MAYOR Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Illinois Municipal Code concerning the use of the title of village president or mayor. Makes a technical change. SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Deletes reference to: 65 ILCS 5/1-1-2.1 Adds reference to: 65 ILCS 5/3.1-10-50 Deletes everything. Amends the Illinois Municipal Code. Provides that when there is a vacancy in the office of president, the vacancy shall be filled by the appointment by the trustees of an acting presi- dent from the members of the board of trustees (now, filled by the appointment of an acting president by the trustees). Effective immediately. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Provides that in villages with a population of less than 5,000, if each of the members of the board of trustees either declines the appointment as acting village president or is not approved for the appointment by a majority vote of the the trustees presently holding office, then the board of trustees may appoint as acting president any other village resident who is qualified to hold municipal office.
