House Sponsors: O'BRIEN-CURRY,JULIE AND GIGLIO. Short description: VEH CD-REGISTRATION-INSURANCE Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Vehicle Code. Provides that every application for registration or renewal of registration of a vehicle must be accompanied by evidence of insurance coverage for the vehicle as required under the "Mandatory Insurance" provisions of the Code. Provides that if an application is not accompanied by the required evidence of insurance coverage, the Secretary of State shall send to the applicant by regular first-class mail a written notice to submit the required evidence of insurance coverage within 45 days. Provides for denial or revocation of registration if evidence of insurance coverage is not submitted. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Provides that requirement that application for vehicle registration or renewal of registration be accompanied by evidence of insurance coverage does not apply to a vehicle operated by a person or entity as part of a fleet of 50 or more commercial motor vehicles. STATE MANDATES ACT FISCAL NOTE, AMENDED Fails to create a State mandate.
