House Sponsors: MYERS-POE-MCKEON-WOOD-COULSON. Short description: DOM VIOLENCE-ADDRESS CONFID Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Creates the Address Confidentiality for Victims of Domestic Violence Act. Provides that victims of domestic violence may designate the Secretary of State as agent for purposes of service of process and the receipt of mail. Provides for the certification of participants under the Act. Provides that the State and local agencies shall accept the address designated by the Secretary of State as the participant's substitute address. Provides that the Secretary of State shall provide assistance to victims of domestic violence. Contains other provisions. Amends the Election Code. Provides that participants under the Address Confidentiality for Victims of Domestic Violence Act may vote by absentee ballot. FISCAL NOTE (Secretary of State) HB 1329 would result in a fiscal impact of a minimum of $225,000 to the Office of Secretary of State. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Provides that the Attorney General (now the Secretary of State) shall administer the Address Confidentiality for Victims of Domestic Violence Act. Provides that the Attorney General shall adopt rules to ensure the integrity of the voting process and the confidentiality of the program participants for those persons who register under the Address Confidentiality for Victims of Domestic Violence Act.
